27/11: Football Trading is very personal. Stick with your style and your original approach! Or else, get battered!

After 80 trades also using the shortlist exclusively, I have basically scrapped that approach as I was entering trades that didn't really look appetising to me (but I blindly trusted the shortlist). I took a hammering of 10 points or so and decided that was it. Didn't even like the approach

I have today reverted to the trading style I style I adopted at the onset of the experiment which is:

  • high-frequency,

  • based on a bunch of in-play criteria and

  • my own judgement

  • exit when in profit

  • all level stakes of course, NEVER use progression

Much better results today with 0.5pt in profits. My results are obviously completely messed up with the chopping and changing so I will now stick with the my original approach till the end of the experiment

I also tightened my filters on first half trades (with small stakes of £1). That too gave me a 0.5pt profit of the day. I will continue with the smaller stakes on the first half for the rest of this week and see how it goes. The best thing to do might be to split the banks for late first half and late second half goals at the end of the experiment, which should be end of December 2024

Although the experiment is now down overall, I have learned an enormous amount, and yet again, it is the MIND that made me change an approach that had made money for 3 consecutives rounds. I chopped , changed, lost discipline and almost as certain as the light of day, I started losing money

That said, this whole experiment was about building mindset and all the mistakes have cemented my belief that trading is a very personal thing and sticking to an approach that suits you is probably the best way to survive this.

Looking forward to the next few days. I may be out watching Rugby at the weekend so may not trade much Saturday but I expect to effectively close off round 4 by Sunday. I will mark is as cancelled given all the messy results. The aim will be to start a clean round 5 on the 1st of December
