Early test 2: A good day for manual picks (2.3 points) but automation needs work

Updated: Oct 8, 2024

Day 2 here!

Hope you are all well

I had the day off today with the long bank holiday weekend coming up so I spent a fair bit of time on the markets.

The headlines are it was an encouraging day for all my manual picks. NET of 2.37 pts (I am using 1£ stakes to keep this nice and clear. (See table further below for the picks)

Note: The larger profits on the table below are where I have gradually taken much cheaper prices late in the game to maximise my profits on a late goal.

I will get round to putting together a shared google sheet next week to track the cumulative results

Mindset lesson: I could have reduced my exposure on the Peresbeya trade by laying the goals market to cover me in case the late goal went to the home team (which it did). So another key lesson for the day, which is what this blog is all about. All the other trades were strong trades so no regrets there at all. Win some, lose abit less than some - that's the name of the game!

Automation: The automation rules on my bot definitely need more tweaking as it was another poor day for my automated betting with around 2.4 points lost . I have now altered the rules and will give this time before I start reporting on it as I may make more tweaks. I do need the automation to run as it gives me valuable data. I have a few other strategies running at tiny stakes as you will see on the P&L. I may have to park automation for a while and focus on manual picks but will see how the next week or so goes.

It's getting hard to report correctly and easily because of the mix of my manual picks and the automated ones. Make no mistake, it would be wonderful to create a fully automated and long-term profitable football bot - but that's no easy feat.

P&L Screenshot as below shows a small loss for the day overall including the Automation bets

Heading off to tour the famous Shepherd Neame brewery in Faversham tomorrow so unlikely will have time for any manual trading - next post will likely be Sunday 24th Aug

Catch up then!
